Tester FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. How to connect the battery to the tester?

All testers use a 4-wire connection. A+ and A- are for the current loop (use thick wires), while V+ and V- are for voltage measurement (use thin wires).

2. Why is there no voltage display on the tester?

Check whether V+ and V- are connected properly.

3. Why is there no current display when starting the tester?

Check whether A+ and A- are connected properly.

4. Why cannot the tester start discharging?

Check whether the cut-off voltage is set correctly.

If the detected voltage is lower than the cut-off voltage, the tester will stop or fail to start.

5. Why cannot the tester connect to the computer?

Make sure you are using the original communication cable, the port is selected correctly (check in Device Manager; port number should be within 10), and the tester is in stop mode (no connection allowed if started via the tester buttons).

6. How to set battery test parameters?

Battery Type

Charge Parameters

Discharge Parameters

1.2V Ni-MH

Charge current ≤ 0.25C

Discharge current ≤ 0.5C, Discharge voltage = 1.0V

1.2V Ni-Cd

Charge current ≤ 0.25C

Discharge current ≤ 0.5C, Discharge voltage = 0.8V

3.7V Li-ion

Charge current ≤ 0.5C, Charge voltage = 4.2V

Discharge current ≤ 0.5C, Discharge voltage = 2.8V

3.2V LiFePO4

Charge current ≤ 1C, Charge voltage = 3.65V

Discharge current ≤ 1C, Discharge voltage = 2.5V

2V Lead-acid

Charge current ≤ 0.25C, Charge voltage = 2.4V

Discharge current ≤ 0.5C, Discharge voltage = 1.75V

For series-connected batteries: Test voltage = single cell voltage × number of cells.

Current is independent of series connection.

The capacity measured in series mode is the capacity of a single cell.

(Note: C is the discharge rate, numerically equal to the battery capacity. Example: For a 2000mAh battery, 0.5C = 1A)

7. How to set power supply test?

Set the current to the required test value.

Set the voltage to a low level. For example, set 10V cut-off for a 12V power supply.

The test stops automatically when the voltage drops below the set value.

8. How to test a power bank?

Set the current according to its rated output current.

Set the voltage to 4V.

Discharging stops automatically when the voltage is below 4V.

If it stops immediately after starting, reduce the test current to avoid output protection.

9. How to test capacity?

Capacity is tested by constant-current discharge and displayed after completion.

First fully charge the battery, then set the test current and corresponding cut-off voltage to discharge.

The capacity shown after discharge is the actual capacity.

10. How to perform cycle testing on a charge-discharge tester?

Multiple cycles are supported when connected to a computer.

Only one cycle is usually allowed in standalone mode.

Please refer to the manual for details.

11. Does the tester support parallel charging of multiple batteries?

Parallel charging is allowed if the batteries have good consistency.

12. How to choose between 12V and 19V standard power supply?

Choose according to the required charging voltage.

The set charging voltage must be lower than the power supply voltage.

13. Can the tester measure battery internal resistance?

Series A testers can measure single-cell internal resistance via software when connected to a computer.

Please refer to the software manual for details.

14. How to use the software on a Traditional Chinese system?

Please download the English version of the software.

15. Why cannot test properly with 4-wire battery clip?

Check whether the center pin and outer metal shell are in good contact with the battery.
